This was a somewhat fast paced read which made for fairly compulsive reading. I really liked the first half of the book and was wrapped up in the couple and their budding romance and how they approached obstacles together/how they fought through struggles. I found a lot of their communication to be fairly toxic but viewed it in the light of their youth and being flung into responsibility and fame so young. However, the theme of the book did turn out to be poor communication and I think this was fairly exasperating to read at a certain point. I still wanted to see how their story ended and I would say I enjoyed a lot of elements of the book, but my goodness were these two frustrating at a certain point in time!

This isn’t a categorically bad book. Infact it was really well written.  Each “chapter” covered a years Xmas season and had one section for Luke’s perspective and another for Laura’s.
It held a clear definition to follow each others feelings and worries and experiences throughout the years as their turmultous relationship has its ups and downs.

Unfortunately I just didn’t really enjoy it.  As well written as it was I didn’t enjoy the romance, and it felt torturously dragged out by the fact the course of the book covers 14 years.  I definitely think this is a book some people are going to love as an Xmas read but it’s just not that one for me.
