I read this for a Family Book Club I’m hosting at the elementary school. I don’t think I read this as a child, but I loved it as an adult! I had an older paperback - still with illustrations, but I bought the nice new “picture book” version for the book club. The story is short but catchy and interesting, and I can’t wait to discuss it with 1st-3rd graders and their parents!

One extra star for the glossy paper and bright colorful illustration. I might look like a type of person who prefers 1000 pages, picture-less books with tiny fonts, and while some of my favorite books indeed come from that variety, I love nicely illustrated books too. Especially if it's a children book.
Story-wise, I think it's okay. If I read it when I was way younger I might like it more. The story is quite straightforward and less 'dark' compared to the other Dahl's book. Well, okay, it still has enormous crocodile who wants to eat six children for lunch in it, but really, it's quite tame (unlike, for example, [b:George's Marvellous Medicine|109124|George's Marvellous Medicine|Roald Dahl|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1392303454s/109124.jpg|1784447]). This is also the only book in my Roald Dahl Box Set which has full color illustration. Perhaps this is targeted for younger reader than the usual Dahl... and I could imagine that younger version of me would like it very very much.

I honestly did not enjoy reading this book to my four and five year old children. We did not find a giant crocodile who wanted to eat little children entertaining.

Cute little picture book for older toddler younger child. Apparent from the main principle of a crocodile wanting to eat children it was nice read with other animals working together to save them
