The first couple chapters were interesting but then I found it get to be repetitive and every chapter seemed to end with a cliffhanger. Afterward if just took a huge turn for the worse where I felt that the Peter Pan character was unnecessarily cruel and aggressive and evil, and this is coming from someone who reads a lot of true crime. It just seemed to be over the top but it didn't seem to serve a purpose. Also the subplot surrounding her daughter left a lot to be wanting. I very strongly did not like the conclusion she had with her daughter.

I really enjoyed reading this book, I thought it was very entertaining and a fresh twist to a dark Peter Pan tale. (I suggest watching The Childish Cruelty of Peter Pan as a precursor to this read as it relates heavily to this book's iteration of Peter Pan and also might help cleanse the pallet of Disney's overly sanitized Peter Pan that might be a jarring shift when picking up this book). There's plenty I could critique about this book but overall I wanted something to get me back into a reading kick and this did the job, as well as indulged my specific niche of interests which is why I rated it so high. If more time was spent with Holly and the Darling family before the plot, I think it would have helped shaped the characters better, especially since the son is terribly infuriating though not for lack of reason, but it would help with falling in love with any of the characters. As it stands, I do like Holly, I just wanted to see more variation for her since 98% of the book is just horrible things happening to her haha but nonetheless! Enjoyed the read.
