When Ya'ara, a young married woman, meets Aryeh, an old friend of her father, she is immediately attracted to his confidence and charm. They start a turbulent affair, which quickly turns into a twisted obsession.
Love Life is not exactly the kind of book I usually read, actually I can't really say I read a lot of romance novels, but because I want to read more translated fiction and the story seemed interesting from its blurb, I decided to pick this one up. Unfortunately I can't really say I enjoyed reading this novel! It was okay but... it wasn't particularly good. Mostly for 2 reasons:
1. The story is told by the point of view of Ya'ara, so naturally she narrates what happens and how she feels: she talks a lot about her feelings for Aryeh, her husband, her family, but they felt dry and simply descriptive, and therefore I couldn't feel for her, or relate to her.
2. The writing is beautiful, but my goodness the dialogues are impossible to read because of the lack of punctuation, rhythm and space to let the sentences breathe. They are basically incorporated in paragraphs, questions and answers follow each other separated by commas, which is not a style I like. Maybe it's easier to follow in an audiobook format.
There are some spicy scenes too, and those were not bad. But yeah there's lots of rambling and obsessive thoughts to get there, and not the kind I usually enjoy to read, and in the end I don't think this book was for me.

a well written book but the ending was lackluster ...
