Listened. Oliver is a screwed up son of 2 washed up rock stars who are still just popular enough to make paparazzi interested in Oliver. When one too many innocent photos of him are taken out of context by the tabloids his job is threatened. He has to find a suitable boyfriend asap to win back his charities conservative donors. Wished I had read-didn’t like the readers voices for two main characters.

I hated Luc with a passion for probably the first half of the book. And found his turnaround to being a reasonably decent person a bit trite.
But I also deeply rooted for the relationship.
Is it wrong that I am disappointed to find that Husband Material isn't using Oliver as the narrator / protagonist? Like, I would LOVE to see this story from his side.

The men in this story have issues that regular people have, but their lives are more intense than most people. A reader could identify but then also be like, “Hmm, my dad isn’t a rock star who abandoned me at age 3, but staying in touch in some capacity might be good for me.” This book also models how to overcome your own issues to be with someone else. So there. Good job.

Opposites attracting in a fake relationship in London. What shone, besides the snappy writing and hilarious supporting cast, was how brilliantly balanced each of the main characters is. It is a tightrope dance to make people have enough issues and flaws that their failed relationships and self-sabotage make sense while still making them appealing enough to love and the author does that beautifully for both Oliver and Luc. Well-narrated audiobook deftly maneuvers a wide range of British accents. Highly recommended for contemporary romance readers.

Very cute, very fun - but would have been so much better 100 pages shorter and without every character suffering majorly from quirky rom com character disease.
