I had only ever heard of Anna May Wong in passing, I’m not a huge movie buff. I truly enjoyed this examination of her life, while the pace is slow it still kept me glued to the page wanting to know more. I also enjoyed how the author would describe people and events as it provided context into a world that no longer exists.

Minor: Alcoholism, Infidelity, and Alcohol

sometimes salisbury gave too much context when I just wanted to hear about Anna herself. she also said she wouldn't talk much about anna's films, but I felt that she did.

This book quotes from primary sources, especially interviews and letters from the 20s and 30s, so readers should be aware that offensive terms pop up a lot.
