EDIT: Okay, I'm back 20 days and 4 rereads later and I can very easily say this series like changed my life. I love this series. I love Neil so much, and every time I start this book series from the beginning, my heart breaks a little more for him. He was so ready to continue a life alone, and looking back to where he started from where he ended, just fills my heart so much. His life was changed by the people he loves and who love him and that just makes me *sob*. I gave Sidelines by Phoebe Bridgers like 35 streams today while at work and I just kept thinking about Neil. I LOVE him.

1st review: This shit was so delicious. I just love some gay boys who love a sport and mix that with the mafia and secret identities?? Sign me up. I am LOVING this series already, the first book just unlocked something within me, and even though I know I'm going to be able to finish at least the second book tomorrow, it doesn't feel quick enough. I just need to know what happens.

I really like the relationships that the characters have with each other. I have a feeling that Andrew and Neil are going to be very Amos and Holden (Expanse mention for all my Expanse fans out there) where person A starts off being a guard dog to person C (Kevin and Naomi) and Hates person B on principle, until person B earns person A's trust and then person A becomes a ride-or-die to person B. I'm calling it now, Andrew and Neil are going to be tight by the end of this series.

Mostly though, I am so goddamn excited for Kevin to realize just who Neil actually is. That reveal is gonna have me glued to my seat.

Also it looks like I got into this series at the perfect time, seeing as book 5 is coming out in like 10 days!! Literally what are the chances. But yeah I'm eating this series up, shoutout Stella for introducing me to this series without even knowing. I'll text you when book 5 comes out so we can chat.

I do love this book a lot - the concept of it is so absurd and you do have to suspend your disbelief a fair bit, but that’s part of what makes it fun and the characters are so compelling. Neil’s evolution over this book from “I can’t start a fight because that’s not in character for my persona” to
calling out Riko on live television
is 10/10. Excellent stuff.

I can’t even give this a rating, it’s completely batshit.

……. Why am I going to read more?!
