I’m sad to say that I didn’t connect with this story. Plot-wise it had all the makings for a great YA dystopian, but it was cheesy and campy even for YA. Julian’s storyline felt forced, uncomfortable, and predictable. I literally rolled my eyes at times. I’m not sure if it was the pacing or the dialog but it just didn’t work for me. I didn’t make any meaningful connections to any of the characters, even though I think Edan is great.
Moderate: Emotional abuse and Physical abuse
