I loved this series with the ancient race that had dissapeared except for its artifacts.

3.8/5 because I'm uncertain how to rate this. I enjoyed it. It was interesting. But it was a bit odd in contrast to the previous two, and I debated at times whether it felt like the same series in the way it was written. The style was so much different that it threw me off for a while. But that said, I was always curious as to what would happen.

The only reason this took me forever to read is because I spend all my time working in the summer, which leaves me very little time for books sadly.

I enjoyed the ending. It left me curious for more.

This had one of the funniest opening chapters I've ever read. The rest of the book was a unique science-fiction drama that never played out the way I was expecting. A truly great read.

I really enjoyed this one, particularly the second half of the book as that's where it really, finally starts with the excitement. Finally introducing the Heechee to humans has been, what feels like, a long wait!

3.5/5 rounded up.

Each of the books in this series is written so differently, and even though the characters are the same, they feel so different every time. Their personalities change so much depending on what's happening in the story. The plot and story was super interesting and fun to read, but I felt like at times the author over complicated some things and didn't explain others enough.

Dropping two stars from my original rating. Much of the mystery of the first two books is sucked away, and for the first third we're treated to unfamiliar or, in the case of Wan, very irritating characters. I also have a hard time believing that Robin Broadhead's wife speaks such broken English after having been married for 25 years and winning a Nobel prize. It's not as though she's an unintelligent woman.

Thankfully, Pohl adds in the Heechee themselves, pointing old and new characters in their direction.
