This was my first Anna Brooks read. While this is book 6 of a series, it can be read as a standalone.

Wow. What a read. This book is full of so much suspense I didn't know what kind of turn it would take next.

Q meets Maddy under false pretenses so the entire time I was holding my breath for the reveal and how she would react.

The fast pace with twists and turns keeps you turning the pages until you reach the end. Highly recommend!

Such an amazing read.

Plenty of intrigue and suspense to go along with lots of heat and chemistry. Q is definitely the alpha male but in all the best possible ways. And while Maddy has been through a lot in her life, she is still the perfect balance of strong heroine that wants to be taken care of every once in a while.

Q and Maddy's story is not for the feint of heart! Its a wild twisty ride, built on a shakey foundation since Q can't be honest with her. I loved these two from the start and have been waiting for Q's story for a while. As usual this author did not disappoint, giving clever Q someone equally witty to verbally battle with. Their story is complex, layered, and fraught with twists you won't see coming. Its everything you can hope for in a book to keep you hooked and guessing throughout while absolutely chock full of alpha male yumminess. These guys will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will wish they were guarding your body

This is book 6 in the Guarding Her series, and it can be read as a stand-alone.
It’s my first book by this author - so in this series - and I was totally fine reading it. I caught up with all the important things during reading this book.
Q got hired to find Maddy for her mother, whom she hasn’t seen in a long time. But he sensed there was something shady about her mother, so Q decided to up on Maddy’s security. They both fall head over heels it feels like, and it all crashes when Maddy finds out the truth.
This is one fast paced, sexy read. It was definitely enjoyable, had twists and turns you might see coming, but it keeps the story interesting!

I kindly received an arc and voluntarily left a review

Okay, so a disclaimer – Hesitate was actually my introduction to Guarding Her series by Anna Brooks – and if you are a friend of mine on Goodreads or are following my reviews there; then you know that i completed the previous books in the series in TWO FREAKING DAYS!

Ah! I fell in love with Q aka Tanner in this book – and Maddie – God, these two amazingly vulnerable characters were one that I absolutely fell in love with – and pretty much ended up binge reading from the moment I picked up the book!

Q is on a mission – to find out everything about the long lost daughter of a client, he doesn’t get a good vibe from. From the moment he saw her photo and then in reality, he couldn’t help himself but to indulge in a little fantasy of finding a woman like her and keeping her in his life.

He knows that the moment the truth would come out, Maddie wouldn’t ever forgive him or even let him salvage what appears to be a perfect relationship – but the connection and chemistry between them is something that he cannot deny or even resist.

Maddie, on the other hand, is content with her life as a third grade teacher. While she would love to have a partner in life, with her past and her mother’s notoriety, it is something that she knows is a long shot. But even with her guard up, Q somehow manages to wiggle inside her heart; for he seems to be the best man she has ever known.

Like with the previous books in the series; Anna Brooks does a brilliant job of putting forth an aspect of the plot that would be new to the reader – and with the romance, twists and all the drama; this book is a guilty pleasure read that I feel absolutely no guilt about binge reading *winks*
