The book started very well, very intrigued by the mystery and the adventures against the Cabal’s secret society.

But once the alchemy and antagonists’ respective motivations became the focal point, the end didn’t do it for me - the concluding chases, reveals, fights and interactions felt too drawn out.

I felt like the 3 POV characters got very lucky more than their respective skills helped them through their adventures. That was very off putting. And action descriptions and settings weren’t clear. There were times it seemed like a character transported out of no where across a room or up stairs.

And the main plot seemed to take place over 2 days maybe. And the amount of travel the characters did and all the science experiments Done to people - seems way too convenient for all that to happen in a short amount of time. Timeline made no sense.

Not well written and too confusing at times.

I made it about halfway through and just couldn't muster up the enthusiasm to continue. The format (very long chapters in different character POVs, divided up almost randomly into short chunks) isn't terrible, but didn't help the very slow pacing. All of the characters, including the protagonists, were fairly stereotypical and one-dimensional.
