Book Five of the Tales of the City series, in which Mary Ann becomes insufferable, her marriage to Brian is stressed even more, and Michael starts to move on with his life. As always, the best moments are in the dialogs. The plot and settings are almost as loopy as Further Tales of the City, but handled much more deftly. And the scene where a posse of nine-year-old boys rescues a seventy-year-old man from the clutches of the Wimmenwood Festival's insane security chief is inspired and hilarious.

Perfect plane read. Continuously enjoyable, with characters that I feel like I actually “know”. The fact that this kept my attention beyond those screaming kids is remarkable…

3.5 but this one was disappointing because Mary Ann turned terrible in a joke about how she’s just leaning in to the 80s. Other stuff also sat strangely with me/went over my head a little…

Future pets will be named either Michael "Mouse" Tolliver, Tolli for short, or Babycakes. I LOOOOOVE this series.

Feeling sad about having only one more left to read in the series.
