This story was a trip. Wow. Also, check out how many songs have been inspired by it:

A dazzling, bizarre and surreal book. Can you imagine a world where the sun shines a different colour everyday? If you don't, read this masterpiece. People here live gentle lives, they have their own traditions.
I liked this book so I'm giving it a four

Now that was something, unsettling, soft, hard and funny, disconcerting and all those things at once.

I can see the appeal in this writing style but overall it wasn’t for me.

A disjointed story of what seems a dystopian community bent on forgetting the "forgotten things". I liked the short snippets of dialogue between the protagonist which holds no name - apparently you have to name it from your experience - and the other characters.

To me, I enjoyed the color coded day element as it provided an interesting take on what happened/happens in each day. For example, Thursday is black, soundless watermelons. Watermelon sugar being the thing that "life" is made up of.

So at the end, Margaret-the ex-lover of the protagonist hangs herself because of a broken heart or maybe because that is what InBoil and his comrades did after hanging about in the forgotten things and getting drunk on whiskey. They decided to self-mutilate themselves and they slowly bleed to death.

Overall, an interesting story that I get the sense is a commentary on the authors life with a deep meaning that maybe a select few will be able to embody.
