I don’t think I have ever been as deeply emotionally moved by any other book as I was by this one.  I could not put it down even when it had me crying so hard I couldn’t see straight. The shifting POV was sometimes momentarily confusing, but as you get deeper in the book and start to know the characters in all their complexity, it gets easier to follow. And the emotional impact of seeing these life events and relationships through the eyes of each of the people involved in turn was just spectacular.

OH MY GOODNESS. A phenomenal read! 👏🏼

It was VERY long and sometimes I had to put the book down because at points, it wasn’t as engaging as usual. But the complexity and humanness of the characters kept me coming back. I felt love for each and every one of them 🥹

So many intense moments in the book too. I was HOOKED especially when there were big revelations! 😳

I audibly went ‘NO’ when Wendy realised whose son Jonah was 😳 Aaron, the first ever kind boyfriend that she had, had had sex with Violet?! Absolute madness!

I had a big soft spot for David especially.
4.5 out of 5 stars for me, thank you ✨ Content warnings below!

On the whole, a good book.
It took a long time to get going, it didn’t really grasp me until maybe the last 200 pages, and was too long a book overall.
The characters were all interesting and different to each other, and I enjoyed the back and forth timelines.
I stronger central plot line would have been nice.

This is a slow paced family-saga. I liked the fact that all of the characters had flaws, as it made them more relatable, along with the fact that they all failed to communicate as a family. On the other hand they showed how families pull together during unexpected events, and that deep down they all love each other.
