The differences between the sisters, who were raised in the same environment and take very different directions in "The Most Fun We Ever Had," skillfully balances family bonds and drama. The story unfolds across two timelines, following the Sorenson sisters from childhood through adulthood. The engaging narrative, despite being raised in the same environment, the sisters take very different paths in life, keeps the readers intrigued and highlights their contrasts.

This book, a substantial 624 pages, may seem daunting at first, but it proved to be a fast, page-turning read, keeping me engaged from start to finish.

Book read: Audio/Libby; paperback/bookstore

Wow I loved this one. Just such beautiful family relationships. The ups and downs of sisterhood. More about the characters than the plot but of course there are twists and turns too. Makes you ache for family in a good way! I really loved the writing. The book just felt like a hug. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

I don’t think I have ever been as deeply emotionally moved by any other book as I was by this one.  I could not put it down even when it had me crying so hard I couldn’t see straight. The shifting POV was sometimes momentarily confusing, but as you get deeper in the book and start to know the characters in all their complexity, it gets easier to follow. And the emotional impact of seeing these life events and relationships through the eyes of each of the people involved in turn was just spectacular.

Nothing happens and everything happens. More than a slice of life type story, the flashbacks that develop each character were placed nicely throughout. There were times when I hated certain characters, was exasperated by them, and then a flashback would add another piece to their puzzle and I could give them grace. These characters were real in a way I can't fully explain.
