This book was completely adorable. Yes it dragged a tiny bit in the middle and was very Hallmark Christmas wannabe, but it made me laugh and cry and was really cute.

First of all, it will never cease to amaze me the journey I'm having with Jennifer Peel. She's written books that I've hated (to this day), books I've felt alright about and books I've absolutely adored. It means I truly never know what I'm going to get when I pick up one of her books.
I was a fan of this one. Cami has a bad view of the holidays (a bad view of life in general really) after her husband cheated on her, and then married said woman. She's pretty anti-love following that.
Enter Noah, ex-husband's best friend, who is clearly in love with Cami but can't make her see that.
Okay what I liked:
- Cami. Cami isn't exactly lovable. She's pretty selfish, extremely jaded, closed off and more than a little bitter. She's not exactly a fun character. But boy does she grow over the course of this book and I was here for it. She had to do a lot of self assessment and I really enjoyed how all of that was handled.
- Noah. Obviously. What a great guy. Also not a complete Gary Sue (do we still use that term). He gets plenty frustrated with Cami at times, but the way he goes about rekindling their friendship is the sweetest thing. I also love love love that even though he loves Cami, that doesn't stop him from challenging her when he thinks she's wrong.
- Friendship. Really enjoyed Mara.
- Family. Same comment about Noah. My favourite thing in books is seeing maturity. Cami family loves Cami, respect her, have given her an opportunity to mourn and grieve, but also know how to hold her accountable. Fantastic.
- Pacing. There was only one stage at the very very end of the book for a hot second where I felt the story started dragging but for the most part it moves along at a pretty good clip.
- Character growth. It's really worth mentioning twice how great Cami's growth was through the course of this book.
I wouldn't say I disliked anything in particular. I did feel confused that Noah still had a friendship with Cami's ex-husband. Like how did he think that was going to work?
Anyway I was a fan.

Based on the cover and title, I expected more holiday focus. While it was talked about through the MC's hatred of the days, it wasn't centric to the plot.
Overall, it's a fast listen and the narrator did a great job. I think she's a good voice for the genre.
I didn't like some of the wishy-washy rationale the MC displayed and her lack of awareness regarding the LI's feelings for her became as frustrating as it was repetitive. I like the author's voice but not necessarily the execution.
Thanks to the author for the alc. All thoughts are my own.
