An excellent book, could be fine as a standalone but definitely had me immediately picking up book #2! This reminds me of a favorite series, Sebastian St. Cyr, and the writing is excellent. Beautiful language and descriptions, evoking real life and deep emotion. I found the plot engaging.

This book was the perfect cozy mystery. It had a few period piece tropes which made the plot a little predictable, but it was entertaining enough that I didn't mind.
