I'll start by saying that Dune (and Messiah) is my favorite book, and the universe that Frank Herbert created is one of my special interests. That being said, this book was filled to the brim with the rantings of a tyrant, and that famous Herbert Homophobia reared its ugly head in this story. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing what the world and universe looked like long after Leto II undertook his Golden Path, but it was pretty...boring. These assassination attempts that every guild and organization tried simply didn't work until they suddenly needed to. The climax of the story and the last few chapters were the most intriguing and gripping parts of the story for me, and it did make all of the nonsense that happened before worth it, but I would not recommend it to people who have a casual interest in the Dune series; read no further than Children of Dune.

No Leto, I wouldn't love you if you were a worm. (I NEVER LOVED YOU)
This certainly was... something. There was maybe one profound sentence every 100 pages but everything else was so strange. There was so much odd, sexual stuff it was really off-putting.Nayla having that f*cking orgasm out of nowhere because she watched Duncan climb? The Fishspeakers in general?!
Everything that was more subtle in previous installments is now *jumping* into my face.
And I swear, if Letos non-existent genitalia would have gotten mentioned *one* more time, I would have thrown that book away.

I liked this more than Children of Dune, but still less than Dune Messiah. I really loved the beginning because of the journal/interview format, the middle was kinda boring, and I liked the ending because everyone that needed to die, died! Overall, not terrible.

The book of raging homophobia and misogyny that has nothing to offer. The last 15 pages could have been a novella to tie-in the story. Instead it’s 420 pages of rambling of questionable quality.
