Book 1 in a series, so lots of characters introduced which I would expect. No shifters in this one so can only guess which of the secondaries are!
The story premise was enough to intrigue me but I found the insta-love and almost constant sex a bit much. I found the last third of the book more interesting with the involvement of the other assassins in the kidnap plot.
Also, I didnt get much of a feel for Riley - he didnt have much say and he came over as too juvenile for an arms company CEO.
So, it was OK - it you like lots of sex, then it'll be OK. Looking for more plot, not so much for you I think.

This was overall a quick and fun read. As I really wasn't sure what to expect going in to this one, I was quite surprised when it grabbed me the way it did.
I have to admit though, I would have preferred some more bulk to it. I felt as if we were missing out on some bits and pieces. I would have loved more background on both of the MC's. We got snippets, but no follow through. There were a lot of sex scenes though. But as they were all nice and hot it wasn't too much of a hardship to read them *grin*
The characters grabbed me enough that I had trouble putting the book down, and I flew through reading it. It would have had an extra star if not for some editing issues that were really annoying me to be honest.

A quick, easy read with a bit of an unexpected twist in the tail. As with other books by this author there is plenty of bedroom action interwoven with the story. I liked Riley and Mateo but we didn't really get to know them - everything was pretty superficial. A good escape from life read - not sure where the fantasy tag came from(perhaps Mateo's green eyes and hairy sensitive neck?) Anyway 3.5 stars, 4 for GR.

This book wasn't as good as I'd hoped. The love was a bit instant, and everything seemed a bit easy and formulaic. That's not to say that this is a *bad* story by any means, it just wasn't particularly good either.

This should really be a 1.5 stars rather than two. I wanted to like this, I really did. But after continuing past the cliches and typos I finally had to stop when the plot went from mildly interesting to abject-boredom inducing. The final scene I had to stop at (WARNING - Spoiler!)was probably the fourth Mateo-Riley sex scene in twenty pages where they're in the shower.
Given what was going on for the bad guys going Riley-hunting, I thought this was the perfect opportunity for a surprise. They kidnap Riley, shoot him, threaten him after they incapacitate Mat, you get the idea. Instead it was a reiteration of them having sex.
You can only read about two guys obsessing over each other whilst having great sex so many times, fewer if it's either repetitive or cliched. After that you need to keep your reader by injecting something more into the plot. This is an action novel (yes, in both senses of the word.)
While I wasn't expecting a gay version of James Bond, I was hoping for something more engaging. It's rare that I have to put a book down before finishing it, but I honestly couldn't take any more.
There is hope, however. What kept me reading as far as I did were the moments of good writing. I'd be squirming from a cliche or annoyed for the over-use of a writing rule and then a paragraph or a page would grab me. And I kept hoping for some solid improvement.
Unfortunately, I may take this as a challenge and write my own gay romance novel. Like so many other writing endeavors in the LGBTQ realm, this one focuses too much on the gay versus finding a balance between the action and the *action*.

I think I have a favorite theme, lol! I liked the mystery of this story. I like the running away and hiding and keeping safe! I especially like it when there are a group of friends or coworkers or team together! I love it! I like Mateo and Riley together, and I especially adored the purple hippo! <3
I want Derek and James to have a story! :) I enjoyed reading this!

That was not good. See all 2 and 1 star reviews.
Warning: NO SHIFTERS. This is not a paranormal read. However there is a laughable attempt at an earth-shattering fortune telling. The whole 3 paragraphs of it. Not enough to excuse any of the fantasy/paranormal tags.

So despite the bad reviews I read I really really really wanted to give this book a chance. And, I have no idea why this book has like a million different POVs - it was distracting and annoying.
I wasn't impressed with the writing, or the dialogue. The sex was ok.
Thanks but no thanks.
