Really liked the book and the characters, but found it easy to put down for weeks/months and come back to. Didn’t love the fanfic bits before every chapter, I ended up skipping them. Really liked Cath and Levi though, and would definitely want to read more about them.

More like 3.5 for me. Loved the characters just didn’t feel like everything wrapped up in the way I wanted it to.

Very good. Was hard to put down. I really liked it and would recommend it.
I didn't love the fanfiction sections, mainly because that's a personal preference. I would prefer if it had been chapter intros/epigraphs OR small excerpts (some were too long, imo), but not both.

Honestly? I expected to really dislike this book. Despite putting this on my to-read list literally years ago, I quickly fell out of interest with the concept of the story primarily based on the summary blurb. I'm happy to say that the story of FANGIRL held my interest in the end, & I'm glad to have finally read it in my ongoing Quest to Read All the E-Books on my iPad.
Mostly, I liked the overarching coming-of-age story that this ultimately is, especially with a character who is an identical twin. Their contrasting personalities held my interest, but dear god Cath is a massive neurotic pain. Reading her thought processes sometimes made me sit back and think, "Seriously, how do you even function? I guess you don't & that's the basic premise of this book..." By the end she did become less burdensome by a fraction, so character development I guess? I also just fundamentally dislike the name Cath, it bothers me & makes me cringe a little inside I don't know why.
The saving grace for me in terms of Cath's character was her emotions surrounding her estranged mother, Laura. Reading her trying to parse those feelings, & in opposition to her twin sister Wren trying to manage the same situation, was interesting & earned Cath some sympathy & understanding from me. That is the sole reason this review is 3 stars instead of 2.

I didn't so much finish this book as I ran out of pages. I wanted it to go on and on, and although I could see that I was reaching the end, there was so much more to find out. I liked the pacing of this book; I felt that it read the way a freshman year at college is lived. I loved (almost) all of the characters, especially Cath and Reagan. I want this story to be the college experience of someone I know and love.

I read this book twice in a row. Once, for the plot then again for the writing. I tend to speed-read my way through books to get to the end so I know what happened. sometimes I'll even read the end to avoid that. I would never have done that to this book. I would have even been happy to have paid money for the book rather than get it from the library. It had amusing pop-culture references that made me laugh out loud ("Have you been watching me sleep?" "Yes, Bella"), descriptions that were simply beautiful (...his eyes were almost buried under his eyebrows; you had to dig into his face.), and characters that made you ache for them. It was a great tale of coming of age, of becoming yourself, of Carrying On.
