I really enjoyed this one. Something about the characters coming together really worked.

Things I Liked...

✨ The plot was a lot of fun! Not only was it mysterious, but it was neat how they tied in magical realism without it being...um, weird.

✨ The art style was good surprisingly. I couldn't really tell how it'd be based on the cover, but the scenery was SO nice. I loved all the night graphics.

Things I Didn't Like...

✨ The characters were not developed at all. They were all pretty bland and I honestly found most of them to be annoying. There was nothing unique to them, even down the dialogue. If it wasn't a graphic novel, I would have trouble knowing who said what.

✨ The pacing was a bit fast for me, however, it did pane out towards the middle of the book.

✨ The beginning of the novel was extremely confusing. Things didn't make sense until the end of it, which was a tad frustrating.

Overall, it was somewhat of an enjoyable read and I definitely will read the rest of the series! I'm curious to know what happens next.

Interesting story, but very slight. I wish there had been three times as much story and character development covering the same amount of plot.

I really liked the mystery, adventure, and friendship in this book! What I didn't like was everyone's bug eyes. I'm sorry, but it bothered me. But the story which is mostly what counts was very good!

Tons of fun! But there are some gaps in the story. It starts off in a confusing moment and there is little character depth.

Loved the concept of this graphic novel, but just wish everything had been more detailed. Since the book was less than 200 pages, I would have loved for the authors to have added more details about the characters and the town's history. In my opinion, the novel does not have enough meat to stand on its own, but it could be a good set-up for a series that develops the characters and plot further.

This has a fun, fantastical setting and the art is nice, but something about it was just flat to me. I think it may be because the book is trying to do too many things at once, which means several aspects get short shrift. I would have liked to see more character development and probably a slower unfolding of the central mystery, so that it could also have been better developed. I also was not a fan of the cliffhanger ending.
