We got two MCs: Basil who is deaf and Derek who has PTSD because of his severely abusive childhood. Both characters are haunted by their own demons and terrible experiences and complement each other perfectly. Their romance has a tiny bit of insta-love, but it wasn’t that in your face.

Oh and get this: even though there is a HUGE language/communication barrier between them, THERE IS NO MISCOMMUNICATION TROPE. Rejoice!!!! 🥳🥳🥳

The side characters are all amazing and colorful, the pacing and writing is great and there is a lot less spice than I expected from a half-naked cover like this. 😅

My only issue was the editing, which on kindle was sometimes a bit off. Like, text messages had narration in them while it was also sometimes hard to separate written notes from the rest of the story, plus spelling mistakes. This bothered me quite a lot and had me re-read parts just to make sure I got things right.

Otherwise this was a very sweet romance with great characters and story, so I would definitely recommend it, as long as you can get past the editing issues.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I thought the characters were very real, and their struggles were delicately written. Basil and Derek's story unfolded at a perfect pace, and it felt like they both learned the things they needed to learn and gave each other the support they didn't know they were craving.
