Always great and very thorough guide books that cover all the important stuff. A 1/2 star off because the food recommendations generally are not the best...

His guidebooks are the best. Everything you need to know about what is worth seeing and what you don’t need to waste time on. Looks like a trip to Rothenburg is in order.

Wonderful planning advice, tips and tricks for Germany. Used it as a guide to plan our trip this summer.

Really great guidebook with a very easy to read style. The maps are great as are the snippets of history. I also really like the self guided walks included.

I only used a few sections of this Rick Steves guide - those for Cologne and "the Romantic Rhine." But these chapters were very helpful in my preparation for my Viking River Cruise. I am confident that the rest of the book is just as useful!

The introduction and the German culture/history sections I found to be most helpful.

Unfortunately, the city I'm going to in Germany wasn't even mentioned in this book.

Though I must say that Rick has offered quite a few really awesome suggestions for travelers going to the Bavarian region. I took a trip there a few years back and he mentioned most of the places we went to. If you visit Bavaria, nearby Salzburg, Austria is definitely worth the trip!

We used this book years ago on our trip to Germany. I recall Steves didn’t think highly of German food - I thought the food was wonderful. The Lonely Planets guide suited our purposes much better.
