The prose is a feast, and while the content was sometimes hard to read because of its nature, I was moved by so many of the lessons that Morrison provides here.

Please take the trigger warnings seriously 

I agree with others that it’s not on par with her best work even if the prose is still there. But also the book reminded how I really think Morrison’s work should be considered magical realism.

Definitely not an easy read, but so full for such a short book. I didn’t know if I liked it at first, but I think the themes and surrealism that Morrison weaves in bring it to that next level. Not that I can say much as a white person, but I think this is an important story about colorism.
