I really loved some of the character development in this book, but I feel like nothing really happened. I wasn’t on the edge of my seat like I usually am with Lisa Jackson’s writing.

While the mystery in this book wasn't as good as the others in the series, I did enjoy this story. I really like the main characters, Pescoli and Alvarez. There was a lot of focus on other people in this book, people who didn't really have anything to do with the story. Perhaps they will be integral to the next story? I do enjoy this series and can't wait for the next book.

#5 in the Pescoli/Alverez series - this has been my least favorite of the series. Sheriff Dan Greyson lies in critical condition after an assassination attempt witnessed by Pescoli; the search for the assassin begins. The story contains an extended amount of background details, that perhaps should have been in previous books, and really does not contribute to determining who the assassin is. Some twists and turns regarding discovery of the shooter. Am growing weary (not just this book) of women cops/agents going off on their own completely against protocol and personal safety.

An ok book. I skimmed parts of the book. This was not one of her best.

I enjoyed this book although a majority of it was pretty predictable! And, I wish there had been more Santana in this one.... I absolutely love him!!!
SpoilerHoping to get a big reveal to him in the next book, as I'm anxious to see his reaction!!

First Thought when Finished: Ready to Die was the most twisty turny story in the series so far! Plus that very last scene--OMG!

Overall Thoughts: Ready to Die was probably my favorite in the To Die series to date. There was action, twists, turns, and a few shockers. The story was the strongest when it was focused on the case. It wasn't so much a "who dun it" but more of a "how we gonna catch him" that had me on the edge of my seat. The only time the story was a little off was when it was focused on the various romances. I don't know why but I just can't connect with the romances in this series. However, since they are background and not pivotal (IMHO) they don't distract from the overall plot line. That being said, I love the characters in the To Die series. There are 2 really strong female leads (Pescoli and Alvarez) that just quite simply rock. Fans of the Eve Duncan or Rizzoli and Isles series would love these two!

Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Natalie Ross / Length: 13 hrs and 51 mins

Natalie does a fantastic job with the To Die series. I think she nails Pescoli and Alvarez. She does a decent job with the male voices and her pacing is pretty darn good. I enjoy listening to these on audio.

Final Thoughts: I am counting down to the next release!Especially after that last moment.

My official rating: 6 out of 10 killers

The 5th book following Alverez and Pescolli and things are getting real! No one is safe and everything is personal.

This was the first book that really took me for a loop. I had my suspicions of who the killer was and I was way off. My big complaint is that it seems like some of these killers have similar habits and traits that I don't think (though I don't know. I certainly don't live anywhere near said killings are happening) are common. Maybe I'm wrong. It just threw me off a little.

But, I'm here and I'm committed to finishing the series. She hasn't lost me yet! Bring on the next addition to the series!

I was very glad Brewster got what was coming to him and that Jeremy seems to be figuring out what he’s going to do with his life. My favorite one yet.
