Daisy is our last wallflower. She has grown since the first book, but she still loves life & has a fanciful imagination. Her father really wants her to marry his protégé, Matthew. She remembers him as unfortunate looking & always sucking up to her father.

When she sees him again, he’s changed…for the better. But she still doesn’t want to cow to her father’s wishes. She is confused when Matthew assures her he has no desire to wed her, either.

Soon, however, the two are getting along & Daisy is unsure what’s happening. Matthew seems to be a strong man on his own & doesn’t need her father’s approval for anything.

Again I start at the end of a series. Oh Well. Enjoyably quirky main characters. A fun quick read.

Less drama than the other books in this series - or maybe the drama is just ridiculously condensed into the last two chapters, and Matthew's identity twist is obvious from the start - but there were so many moments of laugh out loud physical comedy (the goose!) Loved that all the Wallflowers were together to meddle in this last romance.

The Good
This book was a joy to read! The main characters were the best part. I love the pinning by Matthew and Daisy is a whimsical romantic and I loved her. Her refering to her romance novels was so relatable. Their banter and chemistry was super good, it reminded me of Pride and Prejudice (which is my absolute favorite!). I want to read the previous books to see the stories of Daisy's sisters.

The Bad

Lillian (her sister) was so overbearing it was near illogical. I understood where she was coming from and here fears but it was so intense it was hard to feel bad for her. The 'big reveal' felt anticlimactic to me for some reason and what followed
Spoiler matthew's disappearance/death
felt like unnecessary dramatics as we could tell it was going to be resolved soon. It happened like 80% into the book, which made it have less time for so much to happen and emotions to be felt. It has to happen and then immediately be resolved all in like 3 or 4 chapters.

The Rating
I give "Scandal in Spring" a 4/5

The last book in the Wallflowers series, and I'm glad to say I enjoyed this one a lot. Throughout the whole series I've always had a soft spot for Daisy, and I'm glad she got her happy ending, even if I found Matthew to be a bit bland as a hero. Mostly I'm glad that, after being almost completely ignored in the third book, we got to see the four Wallflowers plotting and supporting each other again, and that epilogue was everything an epilogue should be. I still think The Hathaways is a superior series, but all in all the Wallflowers books were so much fun to read, and this was a wonderfully satisfying conclusion.

A final goodbye to the Wallflowers series.
I relate well to Daisy's story as a wallflower more than the others. the story has a solid beginning and middle, but the conclusion is disappointing.
