This was a fun paranormal mild romance. I love the setting in Michigan and the supernatural world-building is well done.

Interesting. Not where I expect this book to go. The small town reminds me a lot of Amanda M. Lee's witch series, or maybe vice versa (not sure which came first). Either way, good story. I hope the resolution of this trilogy is satisfying!

Still fun and fast, but I was less drawn in than I was by the last one. Not that I'm not excited about the next book (heck yeah I'm binge reading this series) but the relationships were less interesting to me in this book - I guess I like tension better than resolution (in fiction and reality).

These aren't as rich as the Charlaine Harris paranormal books, but they are inventive and fun to read. Unfortunately the heroine spends so much time doubting herself that you want to give her a good shake.

I was really surprised that she's only planning to write one more of these books. The characters are unique and interesting, and the world is rich with potential. I enjoyed the first book more than this one, but they're both great choices if you're looking for a quick and enjoyable read.

I still adore Jacqueline Carey and I like the silliness of this series but the character building has let me down for this book. Plus, it's really not necessary for every book to have the heroine gripped in a love triangle/square/whatever. You can have tension without pitting people against each other or having your normally smart and competent main character do stupid, stupid things.

I'm really enjoying this series, she seems like a regular person just doing her best, and that's appealing on so many levels.
