Who wouldn't want their own star? But the real gem in this story is the gentle lesson on learning that "if you love someone, let them go." I was amazed when the kids picked up on the emotions of the star from its body language later in the story.

Sometimes you shouldn't keep a moonbeam in a jar. Even when that moonbeam makes you feel less alone and makes everything better. Good book about the care and tending of friendships for little ones. Gorgeous illustrations invite readers into a cozy beautiful world.

3.5/5 Muted color illustrations with white, not skin-toned, faces. Nothing extraordinary about the book but a nice story about trying to return something that you find to the rightful owner.
