Fair as we are going to get
Probably the most fair and balanced book we are going to get about this period of time in the Sussexs' lives. Omid and Carolyn have really done a nice job of getting the story told using good old fashioned journalism. Quick read. Recommend to all who follow the British royal family.

This book feels like it was written by the people in the picture as opposed to the authors named on the cover.

yeah it is more tabloid fodder and is advocating for them (obviously..! if u see the cover and title and think it’s going to be hyper-critical of them or some kind of great literature that’s on you) but I do see why it’s complex finger pointing

A high quality, well researched analysis.... JK. Trashy, full of anonymous quotes and overwrought writing. Good fun, but objectively bad

Dont waste time with this book, it doesn't bring forward anything new. It's a recount of the same stories we've read in the past. Along with that it paints Harry and Meghan as almost saint like with putting no fault of blame for anything on them....Happy I got this from the library I would have been really disappointed if I bought this.

LOL at any idea this didn't come from M&H's camp. I still love them but some of the details included were like a little embarrassing if M read this before it was published. ie "then she struck a perfect warrior pose" while doing yoga.
Great if you love them, especially after the Oprah interview. Very fun book and learned a bit about the royal family I hadn't previously known. I would still very much like to be friends with Meghan. 3/5 because I mean come on it's like watching a TV special.

2.5 stars. I needed an easy, gossipy read after some heavier books. My biggest takeaway? The editing process must have been rushed. There are a ridiculous number of typos.

My opinion, in short: excellent fact checking, mediocre writing. I’m a firm Sussex supporter. The charitable endeavors by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, their obvious love for each other, and their warm demeanor quickly made me a fan. Even I have to admit, though, that the writing in this book is saccharine. Nobody is as perfect as Meghan is depicted.
Where the book shines is in debunking many of the salacious headlines and asinine accusations hurled at Meghan. Where it falls short is in getting to the heart of the emotional powder keg that became so toxic that Harry and Meghan felt they had no other choice but to step away. There isn’t enough emphasis on the reasons behind their urgency to leave. The book sugarcoats the incessant vilification of Meghan in the press, particularly when she was pregnant. But exactly why wasn’t she supported publicly by the family? Did they support her privately at all? I’m also curious about how Meghan’s many successful initiatives were received by The Firm? (The book omits two of her record-breaking projects that she launched while pregnant and on maternity leave: guest editing of the September 2019 issue of British Vogue — which was also criticized in the press — and creating a fashion capsule collection for the charity SmartWorks.)
The sequence of events tends to jump around, giving the book a disjointed feeling sometimes. As much as I love one of the authors for his straightforward and balanced reporting, this reads more like a gushing amateur piece of writing than a professionally published biography.

Let the record show that I gave this book a chance. I am GENUINELY surprised I even finished the first real chapter. It’s a little disgusting how kiss ass this book is. I can’t say I’m shocked since it’s basically Harry and Meghan approved and they wanted to portray a purely positive picture of themselves. But man it was hard to stomach. I don’t believe this was the “real story” at all, but Harry and Meghans attempt to spin this in a positive light. Honestly I think it didn’t make them look any better. And they were quite petty throughout.

Oh, dear; this book made me laugh,. First, it's ridiculous for Scobie to have spent one minute, let alone weeks, denying Sussex involvement with the book. I've been reading tell-all books about the British royal family for decades, but any newbie to the genre can see that Jessica Mulroney and Misha Nonoo were the primary sources, and they were given all their information by Meghan herself.
Second, it's perfectly fine for the Sussexes to cooperate with an "unauthorized" tell-all about the Royal Family -- it's practically a royal requirement -- but next time, they should find authors who care less about sponcon. The endless list of designers! The mini commercials for every resort that Meghan and Harry visited. It's bad writing to have your entire book sound like a press release.
Do I believe the Sussexes see themselves as Scobie and Durand describe? Absolutely. Do I think there's a lot of truth in their claims? Of course. And I also think that all the royal reporters are so deeply complicit with their subjects that the only way to get any insight at all into the full picture is to read each family member's "unauthorized" account of royal life, because there doesn't seem to be a single royal reporter yet who wants to do more than regurgitate their favorite subject's talking points.
