Esme Wang is an amazing woman. I listened to this book all the way through quickly, as it was fascinating.

Unforgettable, first-person account of bouts of schizoaffective disorder and other issues and the woeful inability of most institutions to deal with mental health issues. Striking.

I tend to have a soft spot for essay collections, but I cannot recommend this book highly enough. In fact, it is the first book I've ever taken the time to write a review for! This is a great look into mental health and the associated societal stigma, but it also managed to have me frequently reaching for my phone so I could look up a passing reference made by the author - no book has ever quite piqued my interest so much!

It was a very interesting work. The author goes into great detail, not only into the diagnosis, but into how it feels and other issues. Very enlightening.

Recommended to me by Sydney, thank you Sydney.

I don’t actually have much to say here that wouldn’t become meandering and also a bit personal. Wang is a very talented writer and reminded me that I should be reading many, many more essay collections than I have before. I read this one at the right time in my life.
