The hold this books has had on me the past few days should be studied, because wow.

I loved every bit of this world. I loved the nightmares coming to life. I loved how Clementine was THAT character; we often see a side character being a spy, sneaking into rooms, disguising themselves.
In this book, it’s all Clementine doing to disguising and lying and I ATE IT UP!

The romance is a nice slow burn, and you easily feel both the frustration, longing and pain in both Clementine and Phelan.

I loved how complicated everything was, while still being laid out in a way so the reader could easily follow the world building. The many characters and their relationships with each other. The backstabbing. The backstory. The goals and scheming. And I loved Clementine’s half stone heart, and the moments cracks appeared - for her and others with the same burden.

All in all, a great 5/5 star read for me. Rebecca Ross simply doesn’t miss, and I am in awe of her books.

This had a slow start but really picked up at the end. I very much enjoyed it but was left feeling like a lot of the relationships felt a little flat, I needed more. I feel like there were maybe too many threads to be able follow through with everything well. But solid concept and solid execution!

not my #1 RR book but that doesn't mean it's any less good. perhaps my only qualm was with the (to me) unnecessary dragging out of "Anna" and I also wished there was slightly more action to keep me hooked.

Phelan was perfect though <3 rebecca and her ability to write men >>>>

I don't think I have the words to articulate my feelings and thoughts about how absolutely great and gorgeous of book this is. There is no doubt that this book is my favourite of 2024... so far.

I mean the characters, the lore, the plot and the romance? Insanely good.

This shows how much I love love love Rebecca Ross's writings. Her books never failed to find its way into my heart and stay there forever.
