SERIOUSLY, KA? Another kidnapping??? UGH!!! Remind me never to move to fictional Carnal, Colorado!!

I digress. While the kidnappings in these books have gotten old and ANNOYING, I really did like this book. Mini spoiler - a character from the Rock Chick series makes an appearance in this book - won't say who though! That was very exciting!

I truly loved Faye and Chace. This book had some darker elements than the previous three books. How? Well, Faye realizes there is a child who is being abused (badly) and she and Chace help him. This was such an amazing part of the story. It felt very real, and believable because of the person that Faye is.

Chace is typical KA Alpha Male. He's had a tough year, with his "wife" being murdered and dealing with that. In comes Faye, the town librarian (picture Emma Stone, that's who I had in my mind) who is a 29-year old virgin, and has been harboring a crush on Chace for 13 years.

The mystery in this book was really good and intense, and the story with Chace and Faye and this child will bring you to tears. This is another great addition to the KA library.

Pretty lengthy read with a rocky start for me, but progressed nice and smoothly. Typical formulaic plot, but I gobbled it up. Chase was sweet and Faye was a geek but it was adorable. Sad to say I did not fully connect with the h/h, but it did have its moments.

Had a minor pet peeve with time skips eg. 3 hrs later, 2 weeks, etc. This happens quite a lot, and though I enjoyed the epilogue, it could probably be written a bit tighter. All in a all, the kind of read that put a smile on my face, especially near the end.

Thoughts: Okay so while I enjoyed it I don't wanna scream at everyone to read it because it's so brilliant.. that said there was nothing wrong with it.
It was more a mystery of the kids rather then Misty's death and the Elite, kinda felt it should be the other way round.
I did love Chace, but his whole tortured-self depreciating-martyr act was irritating, especially with it being so unnecessary. Yeah okay he didn't stick to the law and do what a good cop should but at the end of the day, he wasn't an arsehole himself, he was made to do it to protect his mum, get over it. Can't really find fault with Faye though, she had backbone when she needed it, yet she was still a cute and shy bookworm. Does irritate me a bit that all KA heroines could be interchanged, the 'honey'ing really grates on me, they all start off well but then they start with the honey and it's usually the death of their individuality. Chace finding everything she did 'cute' wound me up no end.
SpoilerI'm disappointed in myself for not making the connection to the Rock Chicks with the 'righteous' hint. I must admit, I assumed that was gonna be another 'honey' and be used by everyone, it didn't even occur to me that it could BE a Rock Chick. Fucking loved the Ally crossover! Of course she started digging, it's Ally. I'm reading this and the Rock Chicks more or less alongside each other, depending on who I feel like when, the hints at Darius in the blurb gave me a bit of hope for him but this showed that just to be a shit show, though I did check and Ally's book was released after this...

KA NEVER disappoints. I know I can't be the only one that wants to live or travel to the towns she depicts in her stories.Of course Breathe is my new favorite KA novel.

H rating: 4.5/5 - Chace. What is with the lashing out! All of my KA heroes have terrible lashing out issues.

h rating: 5/5 - Faye. I LOVE your mind, spirit and backbone.

Drama: 5/5 - Soo much drama..I love this series!

Thoughts: I think of all the ladies I've met on this KA trip I am on..I really connect the most with Faye. Onto the Rock Chick and I'll then get to Jagged.
