I should have looked at the published date of 1997 before buying it. The amount of sexism and such is really unfortunate and the tech stuff is… not good, especially by today’s standards. Interesting plot but the execution was severely lacking.

Captivating story. Doesn't flow quite as smoothly as later Baldacci works but still very good.

Very well constructed/believable strong female lead character.

This was the first time I've read this author so I wasn't sure what to expect. I loved the movie version of Absolute Power so I figured this would be good. Overall, I was a little disappointed in the novel. It was way too long for such a weak plot. There were too many plot threads and many of them were not exciting enough to move the story. When things finally came together in the end, I had forgotten half of the events that helped the protagonists solve the mystery.

I picked this book up on a bargain book table and found an author that I really enjoy.

it did take me a while to get interested, mainly because of the dialogue. But I liked it, except for the minute fact that the first half was dragged out but later there was so much happening. This was an unexpectedly good read because I tried starting this book multiple times, and now finally got around to completing it and enjoying it.

Interesting read. Lots of twists and turns although sometimes I felt it was a bit too much and it took a while to get to the end. As for the story itself, it's interesting to see the author get into the issue of the financial market, although I'm not sure in real life things are that simple. Nevertheless, a good read. The ending was too simple; more like a movie ending.

a solid 3.5 star book rounded up.

i haven't read many baldacci books, but i saw this at one of my favorite bookstores (they have outdoor books you can buy for 25 cents) and was desperate for a real book. a kindle just isn't the same and our libraries are still closed. this is a fast-paced thriller with a few twist and turns that i really enjoyed. some of the characters felt a little flat and the story was a little drawn out, but i was tricked a few times! if you're into espionage and 90s high tech (lol floppy disks), this is one for you!
