Like some men you may have heard about, this book is only interested in one thing. But it will convince you that thing is the only thing.

Love love love a book that doesn’t have a lot of surface action but drills so far down to the character’s core that you feel you know them better than you know yourself… a new favorite.

The literary answer to Normal People. Beautiful, heartbreaking. Boys r dumb.

It is only recently that I have come to fully appreciate the magnitude of McEwan's writing skill. This wonderful little novel only serves to support that appreciation. It is astounding how in just a few chapters, McEwan can give the reader so much depth in both his characters and his surrounding descriptions. Many short stories can leave one feeling unfulfilled and wanting more, but 'On Chesil Beach' is perfectly self-contained and leaves you with closure and satisfaction concerning the novel's conclusion.

Quietly shattering and utterly heart breaking. Grab a box of tissues.
