The male lead Remington is enjoyable, but the main woman is insufferable. Constantly talking about how petite she is in her little athletic track suits, and gets drunk to the point of vomiting multiple times off of 4 shots *eye roll*. She did the one thing Remington BEGGED her not to do, which was aggravating.

The side characters seemed childlike and uninteresting.
I also hate how the main plot is the  villainization of mental illness.

The tension between the main characters was the only thing that made me finish the book. The iPod thing was cute too.

Big no for me...Remy is not the guy I would read about, but Brooke is ok. Kinda to good for him.

One of my favorite reads I have been coming back to for years! I definitely have my complaints (I don't love Brooke's character, and honestly Remy has some problematic moments, but it's for the plot). But it really is a romantic read, and has elements of a romantic partner who struggles with mental health issues. VERY steamy book, but very sweet wholesome moments sprinkled in there as well. One of my favorite parts about this book is the emphasis on music! Remy and Brooke swap headphones often and play each other songs from real life as their own little secret way of communication. It's so fun to listen along with them in real life, and Katy includes a playlist list for the songs to go with the book. Iris by Goo Goo Dolls is an important one. Love it.

I have just finished my fourth read of this book (twice by ebook, twice by audio). This book NEVER gets old. Remington Tate is a flawed man, but a most beloved book character. Remington Tate is like kindling just waiting to be set alight, full of anger but such a capacity to love. Where has he learnt to love? He certainly has had little in his life. Brooke Dumas is a worthy recipient of his desire, I truly admire her character. She has taken her broken dreams and fought through to make something out of the pieces. These two are so suited but secrets threaten to be a unbreachable valley between them.

"When she touches me, I find anchor."

This was originally my first book by Katy Evans. The way she writes her characters, especially the men in her books just seems to speak to my book soul. The story lines are interesting and at the time of writing fairly original. Although many fighter books have been written since, few touch the quality of this. Katy Evans impresses me the most with her handling of mental illness, still a somewhat taboo in contemporary fiction.
