Not what I expected. For some reason I thought this would be a sort of mystery, but it wasn't that at all. Very depressing!

This book has the feeling of a Lifetime movie. Very thing that needs to happen happens. Not that I'm a hater of happily ever after but I am a bigger fan of reality.

I just loved it. Layers of complexity and beauty and heart.

Grabbed this on a whim at the library; I was expecting more mystery, less emotionality, but overall, it kept my interest well enough.

This is a really nice book. I salute the author for not dumbing down the writing, or the story-lines - for instance, having the leading character fall in love with the widower whose daughter she's caring for. The author recognized that complex situations are rarely wrapped up so neatly.

There were some happy endings, or happy middles - and I am okay with that. I don't chase my happiness wholeheartedly, a-la-Lucy, but I do recognize the importance of striving to be happy. Trying to be happy with what you can.

Another excellent book from Buxbaum. Makes me want to read "The Secret Garden," which I never have.

Like her first book, "After You" contains such gorgeous language.

Quick read. Sympathetic characters. 4 stars might be pushing it. It was a bit heavy handed in The Secret Garden analogy that didn't totally fit for me (and I'm not a huge fan of that book anyway). But I do like her writing style and it was a good story. I feel like her characters are more realistic than some other authors in her genre. Which makes for more believable conclusions.

A sad, but cute novel with a good and simple plot. Mildly predictable at times, but still worth the read. For the full review: http://erraticprojectjunkie.blogspot.com/2013/01/after-you-by-julie-buxbaum.html
