As someone who has learned by watching my father take stunning photographies, and by fumbling with his cameras, I found this little book really useful. I do realize it doesn't replace a proper formation, but anyone self-taught can benefit from it in my views. It's a great first step to understanding how a camera and how pictures work, without spending hours taking nice pics only by chance and figuring out why they're good ones. People with more knowledge might not find it useful, though.

Anything written in this book, you can find it online. There's nothing new in this book. It's lazy and uninformative. I don't know how this get 4 stars out of 5 lol.

An excellent primer that cuts through the bs that fills so many tutorials for beginners and hobbyists. I checked it out from my local library, but now I have to have my own copy.

Very good basic and useful advice for anyone who wants to take better photographs. Presented in short and illustrated paragraphs. Perfect format for our times plagued with short attention span.

A good introduction to photography that isn't too technical. I'd recommend to anyone who feels like they don't know anything about their camera and wants to know more.

A decent overview of photography. Offers the technical information and also some style thoughts. Not enough to be a sole source of guidance, but he shared some perspectives that were unique. The main draw of the book is the plethora of photographs. If you want to take great pictures, you gotta constantly be looking at great pictures, too.

An attractive book. Beautiful photographs to illustrate handy hints and tips. Some straightforward photography basics around Aperture, ISO and Shutter Speed, clearly presented. Written in an accessible voice (with some dry/wry humour). Great starter for the newly interested, like me. Quite pricey for such a slim tome, but pretty good value.
