i hate this author’s writing style. the pacing is all over the place, there is no worldbuilding (except in a flashback that takes place in the mind of a ten year old, where she uses language and talks about current events that no ten year old should or would know???), and the author is way too emotionally attached to her return key. nothing is explained, nothing is described, and it’s all “oh i’m so tiny and petite and i’m abused but also i’m so strong and a badass and i can literally flip a switch in my brain”. baby girl you’re a pick me, and the author cannot write a character that makes sense or a realistic human interaction.

It’s actually bonkers how similar this and Blood of Hercules are. A young orphaned woman with a younger sibling who was raised by an abusive foster finds out she’s actually a powerful being through a blood test and is whisked away to a faraway land to train. She’s ugly in her home world because she’s poor, but in the new world of 7-foot tall underwear models who have sex for a living, she’s irresistible, and every single man who comes into contact with her is immediately obsessed with her, but it’s overwhelming for her because she is a ✨virgin✨

Another few hundred pages of Jasmine Mas’s barely concealed (Mormon?) sexual fantasies. The writing is terrible and repetitive, but like a car crash, I can’t look away.

look, i decided to read this bc the series/book titles were so bad. so, i obviously knew it wasn’t gonna be the pinnacle of literature — but i didn’t expect it to be so fun jfjgjgkh

the characters were surprisingly likeable imo. sadie could’ve been one of those regular annoying™️ protagonists but i actually liked her. i also liked that the guys were different to each other which is also surprising in this type of book.

i liked the relationship between jax and cobra (what a name…) and their dynamics with sadie. ascher (with a C!) was kinda unecessary tbh. he didn’t need to be there, imo. aran felt more important than him.

the world was interesting and very different from others i’ve read, though i’m still confused abt some stuff.

and interestingly, i actually got invested. sometimes i felt uneasy bc poor sadie’s body didn’t catch a break. also, at some parts i was actually like, tense bc i wanted them to get out of stuff okay.

anywaysss, 4/5 bc i’m not a technical reader. if i had fun, i had fun!

Content Warnings: sexual content, violence, blood, gore, death, PTSD, torture, isolation, child abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse,
Mention of: sexual abuse, rape, sexual assault, kidnapping,

I might be missing some content warnings...I read this in the middle of the night when I was sick and couldn't sleep 😅 and immediately started the 2nd book...so it's all a bit of a blur.

This book was a lot of fun to read...and I think it was my first omegaverse read too...which is honestly surprising with the amount of shifter books I've read over the last 20+ years 🤣

This was so fun! I absolutely loved Sadie( I think that’s her name. I’m so bad at remembering names). She actually made me laugh so many times. The world is interesting as well. I didn’t read the summary so I didn’t know the alphas shift into different creatures which is fun. I really like the slow burn happening with the characters as well.
