I remember reading this in middle school and enjoyed the light yet heavy story of this series. Gregor has to make a fly of grown up decisions while still being a young boy. The formula is old and annoying but for this age group I think it works. Boy gets task, boy goes on mission, boy realizes it is not straight forward, boy completes mission and is a hero.
But again this is important to this age because it helps hammer a general idea of how stories work. They understand the when rising action, climax, plot thing even if they don't know those exact words for it.

Great book heavy material handled in an age appropriate and almost light hearted manner. My 5 year old really enjoyed reading this series so far and is excited to read the next one.

This series is so incredible - I'm reading it 8 years later and it still holds up. Also a very fitting book for pandemic times.

Gregor returns, this time to find a cure for a plague that is rapidly spreading through the Underland.  One of my favorites in the series; adventurous, quick read.

Man this series is just too good. Book 3 is just as increduble as the rest of the series, and better in some ways. I think the underlying themes of war are amazingly well done in a children's book, and build so well to the final book.
Also there is just something about book threes. I feel like book 3 in a series is always awesome.

My favourite book of the series so far. Although, I can’t tell you why. Perhaps I’m just familiar with the characters and it’s become a comfort read.

I’m starting to think maybe I will read this series again.  It might make for a nice falling-asleep read.

Collins is so good a creating a world with consistency. Such a great addition to a library, especially one for late elementary school or middle school.
