Sci-fi is not a genre I usually read but I heard such amazing things about Dark Matter I decided to give it a try and I am so glad I did. Honestly, this one was touch and go for me. Sometimes I loved it, sometimes I was bored, sometimes I was freaked out, and sometimes I hated it! And I felt all these different ways because I was so damn invested in the story!
Jason Dessen is living with his loving family and like most people, always wonders what if? What if he hadn’t married? What if he hadn’t had a son? What if instead of pursuing the humble family life, he had instead continued to throw himself into his research in quantum physics and multiverses? Well in another world, he did just that, and that other Jason is wondering some similar things.....soon our family loving Jason finds his life stolen and he’s thrown into his successful doppelgänger’s life. And so begins his journey to find his way back to HIS wife and HIS son through as many multiverses and versions of his world that it takes.
This novel is an excellent mix of sci-if, thriller, romance, and this may just be me, but horror. The thought of there being other versions of myself that have lived nightmarish lives or might want my life at any cost? Terrifying!! I highly recommend this novel and can’t wait to read more by Blake crouch.
