Book includes multiple descriptions of dogs being killed, once during the description of the sack of Rome, following a Gaul attack of Capitoline Hill, the Romans throw a guard and a dog off the cliff as punishment for not warning them of the Gauls approaching by climbing the cliffside and again in Chapter 11 a dog is impaled on a spike and paraded through the city as part of a celebration, in remembrance of the Capitoline Hill attack. The description includes that this occurs yearly during the celebration.
