Good writing makes such a difference. Compared with the last couple of comic books I read, this one just feels more substantial and interesting. Sure, there's regular comic book silliness as well, but it's often handled with a shrug and a wink, and that's nice as well. These books don't need to take themselves too seriously, not most of the time.
