I devoured this book when I was younger and decided to re-read it. I do think it shows that it's one of the first books by this author. I found a lot of repetition, something would be thought by a character, then repeated verbatim a paragraph later. But I still enjoyed the story, even if it didn't hit as well as it did when I was a young reader.
