The Mephisto Club by Tess Gerritsen

4.0

Jane and Maura are called to the home of a young woman on Christmas Eve. She's been murdered and her body spread throughout the house. It's a bloodbath. Only problem--some of the body parts found don't belong to the victim's body.

Not only that, Maura struggles with her attraction for the young priest from The Sinner. And there's a new man on the scene--Andrew Sansone--a wealthy retired professor who chases down evil. When the second body is found behind his home, he feels the need to get involved. Especially since the killer is leaving satanic symbols at each crime scene.

But the killer isn't done. Antoher body shows up murdered--the famous Dr. O'Donnell--friend to all murderers. The killer's first victim is then found...way up in New York. Jane and Maura realize their killer is after someone specific--and they need to find her first.

Full of symbology, horrific murder scenes, and intelligent conversation, you get it all when you read this book. Of course, reading the first 5 will help get you into the story. The story here reads more like a Dan Brown book/movie or National Treasure, where the hunt for the meaning behind things is just as intense as the hunt for the killer itself.
