This was a reread for me and while it didn't hit as hard the second time around I still love these characters and this world.

📖 Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker is offered a chance at a deadly heist: break into the Ice Court - a military stronghold that has never been breached - and retrieve a hostage whose knowledge could change Grisha magic forever. To succeed would mean riches beyond his wildest dreams - but he can't pull it off alone . . .

A convict with a thirst for revenge. A sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager. A runaway with a privileged past. A spy known as the Wraith. A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums. A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes. Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Together they might just be unstoppable - if they don't kill each other first.

✨ Review ✨
I love the grieshaverse world and honestly I think I always will. Out of all the books in this universe I do think this Duology is where Leigh Bardugo shines the brightest.

I absolutely adore the magic system of this world and the small sciences and honestly I wish more magic systems were like this.

The plot itself is very simple but effective. Some people talk about this as the ultimate heist story personally I disagree I wouldn't come into this if you are looking for a heist, it's not the next lies of Locke Lamora. I still do enjoy the plot though.

However if you are looking for fun, complex characters with interesting dynamics then I highly recommend. The characters are what make this story and it was interesting to read this knowing what happens to them in later books. There is some great foreshadowing for there character work.

It lovely to be back with these bunch of misfits.

I'm looking forward to my reread of crooked kingdom.
