Superman: Dawnbreaker by Matt de la Peña

4.0

I need to mention (like with the last ones) that I'm not a big superhero fan and can't do much with superpowers and supervillains. The fun part about these books, that for me it's not about that. It's about the human behind those powers, about how they became what they became and what triggered their development, and that's something that I do think is incredibly interesting. Superman does just as good a job as the other books in this series with letting us in Clark's head when he's slowly developing his powers, with him watching the racism in his community and what that means for him when he finds out he's not a white man. Really loved this! (also the very actual background with stop and search laws that will be based on race, undocumented workers and racism? Loved it!!)
