This is the Bohemian Rhapsody of novels. It’s a little bit of everything. Speculative, sci-fi ish, a dash of sexy romance… all wrapped up in an intricate contemporary novel exploring family relationships, the many dimensions of black womanhood and how black women and childhood are often left behind in childcare and mental health. This isn’t going be everyone’s cup of tea but I loved it.
