My Mother Laughs by Chantal Akerman
4.0
3.5 stars, rounding up.
A deliberate meandering memoir about love—romantic love and familial love. I appreciated the unadorned snapshots and stitching together of the ups and downs of very real life, but the language felt a bit weary and monotonous at points. On the whole, however, I really enjoyed the book and its insights.
