A Spooky Legacy by S.E. Harmon
5.0
The amount of love I have for Rainstorm is not measurable. Add in Danny and the love is even more impossible to quantify. This book was just perfect, from beginning to end. We left them on their honeymoon at the end of the previous books and now they're months into their marriage and things are looking pretty amazing. They deserve this so much. So so much. I'm not usually a fan of second chance romance because my heart hurts too much when we're reminded of their time apart, and when they meet again there's always animosity and it takes time to heal and to give their relationship a chance again, trusting the other person not to break you the way they did in the past. Let me tell you I suffered at the beginning of the series, they took my heart, played with my emotions, but I forgive them because it was all worth it for them to have the relationship they both deserve, the one we see in this book. The communication!!! I love when they talked, when their fears and doubts were talked about, when they opened themselves to be vulnerable even if they were afraid the truth would hurt the other person. In this book Rain and Danny are waiting for a very important call in the midst of also solving a very complicated cold case. Their lives truly is never boring. I loved seeing Rain jealous even if I knew, like he did, that there was nothing to be jealous about. But you can't really fight the feeling that someone will take away the person you love the most.
The book was hilarious, I highlighted so many parts. Rain is just such a funny guy with his obsession for sweets, his love for his whiteboard, the new floaties, his lack of cooking skills. It's a miracle they're both healthy with them being the worst cooks ever. I find it hilarious. And their banter, their back and forth, their declaration of love, loyalty and devotion, it all takes a whole new meaning when you know their not people who usually express their emotions out loud for people to see, so when they do you understand that the love they have for each other is so much that it spills beyond the carefully hidden box that they open only between each other when they're alone.
The murder mystery was gripping as usual, maybe a little less scary than the previous one, but it had much more meaning and it angered me thinking about it. The system really fails so many people, infuriating is not enough to describe it.
This is a goodbye and I'm so not ready. Rainstorm and Danny will be forever with me, Watson too, and Rain's peculiar family, and their coworkers, and just about every single character that made this series the amazing series it is. Highly, very highly recommended!!
