although the name of the book suggests a focus on the shakur family, this book also takes branches off to focus on the black liberation movement as a whole and works to connect key people and moments. this book discusses various black liberation movements and their connection to each other, and ultimately connections to the shakur family. i found it very enlightening and informative as someone who's only prior knowledge of the movement came from my learning of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr and how they have been portrayed in media. this book gave me insight into many more leaders, community work, and goals of the movement.
